Henry Dwyer Racing – Sunday Preview

Ballarat Synthetic

Race 3 – Pressure Cooker

Jockey – Mitch Aitken

1500m – Barrier 1

Four-year-old galloper Pressure Cooker gets blinkers on for today’s race on the Synthetic at Ballarat. The gelded son of Adelaide is seven weeks between runs, and while the grass track was the preferred option, needs to run in the transferred meeting today to step up in trip next start. Jockey Mitch Aitken leaves from the inside alley and will likely be beaten for speed in the early parts, finding cover throughout before winding up to hit the line late.

Plenty of scratchings has affected the early speed battle, leaving Revelare and Sardonian as the most likely leaders here from the 1500-metre start. Small field and can make a case for nearly all. Revelare sat up on a solid speed on debut here a fortnight ago, fading late but will be improved from that effort. Can lead this and give them something to chase. Ex-Kiwi galloper Hand Me Down won a Stawell jumpout ahead of his first Australian start today. He had one start across the Tasman, showing some ability there. Can measure up here. Chances to Sardonian and Hoody’s Horse in a race where not much would surprise.

Pressure Cooker will improve from today’s run, better suited out in trip and back on grass next start. He’ll get his chance to run on in the home straight but will likely find a few of these too sharp.

Currently, Pressure Cooker is a $9 chance in the market.
