Caulfield
Race 7 – Gaze Grise
Jockey – Will Price
1100m – Barrier 1
Stable newcomer Gaze Grise sees Caulfield for the first time over 1100-metres this afternoon. The ex-David Jolly galloper has been mixing her form in better grade in South Australia and looks better suited in this company today. Will Price leaves from the inside alley on the Puissance de Lune mare and will likely be out-sped in the early stages.
Plenty of speed in this race. Winning Verse and Viviane will come across from out wide and Jillette will be prominent from a middle draw. Many chances in this. Senegalia won at Flemington last start, beating subsequent Topaz winner Yulong Storm in the process. Drawn for a lovely run and can win again. Winning Verse was a deserving winner last start in Sydney, having run well at all starts this campaign. Will be working early for the lead but if she gets over easily enough, she’ll take running down. Concede a chance to All About Eve who has good fresh form. Others wouldn’t surprise.
Gaze Grise is a bit of an unknown for the new stable and has been thrown into a competitive race today. If she can travel with cover throughout and find a gap in the home straight, she may collect a cheque for connections.
Currently, Gaze Grise is a $27 chance in the market.
