Henry Dwyer Racing – Saturday preview

Flemington

Race 6 – Brung King

Jockey – Celine Gaudray

1400m – Barrier 6

Progressive three-year-old Brung King stays at 1400-metres this afternoon, looking to post back-to-back wins in metropolitan company. The gelded son of Crackerjack King ran on strongly from the second half of the field at Sandown last start, winning by a length-and-a-half and doing so with a bit in hand. The Dwyer runner rises in class today but is yet to run poorly in six career starts, attacking every challenge that gets thrown his way. Apprentice hoop Celine Gaudray leaves from a middle draw and can settle closer in the run, two or three pairs back in the running line with cover. Plenty of early speed in this, Grey River will use her low draw to be prominent while Cortes and Private Jumbo could roll across from out wider. Grey River drops back from Listed class in Adelaide where she was narrowly beaten at 1200-metres. The rise in trip shouldn’t pose any problems and from a good draw she presents as one of the leading chances. Castillion was good at this track/trip last start and the Payne stable are having a good run. Not sure barrier one is a positive but if the breaks go his way he can be there at the end. Private Jumbo looked stiff not to defeat Euphoric in the same race as Castillion, held up at a crucial stage. Doubt the wide draw helps and now has a record of one win and four second placings. Lounge Bar Rubi had even less luck in the same race, ending a run of four consecutive wins for team Kavanagh. These two runners are too far apart in the market. There are others with hopes in a good race. Brung King will enjoy the wet conditions, the forecast rain could see the track in the heavy range by this stage of the day. He carries just 53kg after Gaudray’s claim and the race looks like it will be run at a solid tempo, suiting Dwyer’s runner who will be running through the line late. An excellent each way chance in a wide open affair.

Currently, Brung King is a $6 chance in the market.
