Camperdown
Race 1 – Quick Fingers
Jockey – Mitch Aitken
1000m – Barrier 7
Caravaggio filly Quick Fingers takes on a hot 1000-metre maiden in the first at Camperdown today. Dwyer’s three-year-old was good at Bordertown behind a speedy runner before racing a little flat last time out at Benalla. She didn’t have the greatest of luck there however and the stable are expecting their runner to bounce back and be competitive in today’s race. Blinkers have been added for this and Mitch Aitken will need a touch of luck to find a position from an awkward draw. Hardest to beat will be Dan Bowman’s first-starter Blackbook who has trialled well and draws for a good run. Danny O’brien has the favourite in the race but it has drawn wide and will need everything to go right to win this. Quick Fingers has the ability to win a race like this and looks a realistic top-three chance this afternoon.
Currently, Quick Fingers is a $10 chance in the market.
Race 6 – Better Tomorrow
Jockey – Josh Cartwright
1000m – Barrier 11
Five-year-old gelding Better Tomorrow comes back to 1000-metres today looking for a race with plenty of pace up front. The son of Lonhro was excellent first-up at Stawell when he reeled off some fast closing sectionals before finding a leader dominated race last start at Werribee, unable to make an impact on that contest. The sprint trip today should ensure good early speed and Josh Cartwright will drift back and watch it all unfold from his wide draw. Sir Domigo shapes as the hardest to toss in this, he has been racing well and looks close to a win. The market has identified Inala Michelle as the favourite but it’s first-up from a lengthy break and may need the run. Better Tomorrow will need the leaders to go hard in this to have any hope of gunning them down, but an improved showing from last start is expected from this Dwyer runner.
Currently, Better Tomorrow is a $21 chance in the market.
