Henry Dwyer Racing – Saturday preview

One runner engaged today as spring racing catches its breath.

Terang

Race 3 – Pannier

Jockey – Josh Cartwright

1200m – Barrier 9

Three-year-old gelding Pannier is first-up into a maiden today after his barrier indiscretions cost him a start in Adelaide a fortnight ago. Missing that run wasn’t ideal for the son of Tavistock who would’ve been race-fit to tackle this assignment today. He does however strike a fairly weak contest here and his class might be enough to carry him over the line on a soft track at Terang. The main danger is Shocking Habit from the Preusker yard, who appears much better than maiden class but hasn’t been able to put it all together on raceday. Outside of her, the race drops off pretty quickly, presenting a golden chance for Pannier to pinch a win today to kick-off his preparation.

From the trainer:

He goes in today certainly not screwed down.

Terang is a very tricky track.

He’s probably the best horse in the race…if he wins today I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

He’ll run a really nice race.

Currently, Pannier is a $4.40 chance in the market.
