Three runners across two states today for the Dwyer camp.
Morphettville Parks
Race 2 – Palatial Prince
Jockey – Barend Vorster
1300m – Barrier 3
Palatial Prince travels over the border as he looks to bounce back to form after a flat run last start. The four-year-old gelding was good winning first-up on the synthetic but failed to finish off on the same surface last start, leaving plenty of room for improvement today on a good-4 rated track. The son of Xtravagant put in a solid third-up run in his first prep and the stable are hoping for a similar performance on the tight Parks circuit this afternoon. Jockey Barend Vorster should get a soft run in transit from a good draw but will need galloping room approaching the home bend to build momentum and gather in the leaders. This looks a fairly even affair, and the Dwyer runner finds himself in a very winnable race.
From the trainer:
He seems ready to run to his best.
As long as he gets clear galloping room from the 600m, he should be a good chance.
He’s a good each-way chance today.
Currently, Palatial Prince is a $7 chance in the market.
Race 3 – Rock Dee Jay
Jockey – Lachie Niendorf
1300m – Barrier 11
Rock Dee Jay is also looking for improvement in Adelaide today, finding a suitable race to graduate from maiden grade. The son of Awesome Rock was ultra consistent in his three-year-old season, finishing runner-up in his last three starts before heading for a spell. The gelding returned at Bendigo five weeks ago and ran ok on heavy ground without ever looking a winning hope. Today he strikes a thin race and with the race favourite drawn very wide, looks an excellent chance to breakthrough. Lachie Niendorf claims 1.5kg and will have a decision to make when the gates open from a tricky gate.
He’s really improved in the last ten days.
Very happy with him heading into today.
If he has even luck, he’s a really good winning chance.
Currently, Rock Dee Jay is a $6 chance in the market.
Murtoa
Race 1 – Masked Valentine
Jockey – Melissa Julius
1600m – Barrier 5
Masked Valentine will be greeted by the freshest of tracks at Murtoa today as he looks to build on a much-improved run at Mildura last start. The four-year-old gelding was excellent in the closing stages of that 1400-metre event and the extra furlong here looks to suit from a good draw. Murtoa generally lends itself to runners on or close to the speed so Melissa Julius won’t want to get too far out of her ground early, rather find a midfield position and build momentum rounding the bend. There are a few strong chances in this, including Emathion for Price/Kent and Dan O’Sullivan’s Bavarian Lady, so the Dwyer runner will need to be at his best to score a maiden win today.
Currently, Masked Valentine is a $14 chance in the market.
