The HDR stable has two runners today in PRAIRIE FLOWER at Morphettville and HOLLERLUJAH in the $1MILLION VOBIS SHOWDOWN at Caufield.
Morphettville – Good (4)
The track at Morphettville will start in the Good 4 range.
Race 2 (12:57pm) Adelaide Racing Carnival – April 30th -May 21st Handicap 1050m
No.4 PRAIRIE FLOWER– Will Price (Barrier 4)
PRAIRE FLOWER (4) heads to Morphettville on Saturday, where she’ll contest a 1050m Handicap (Race 2, 12.57pm). She has drawn gate two, and Will Price rides.
Praire Flower steps out today at Morphettville after making the trip on Thursday night. She has travelled well and settled in nicely. A few unraced runners look the main dangers in this, but with race experience on her side and coming into this in peak fitness, she should be firing on all cylinders. Will Price will look to settle i. behind the leaders if possible and be unleashing her down the long straight at Morphettville today. The team is extremely confident coming for this race today. Caufield – Good (4)
The track has been on the improve across the week after significant rainfall on Sunday and Monday. By race morning it should be into the Good 4 range but given we are heading into the colder months it may not get an upgrade to a Good 3. Light winds won’t impact racing but with the rail going out 6m they may ease away from the fence as the meeting goes on. I suspect all horses will get their chance with talent being the main decider in races. (Form Analyst Matt Welsh)
Race 6 (3:20pm) The Showdown 1200m
No.9 HOLLERLUJAH– Mitch Aitken (Barrier 12)
HOLLERLUJAH (12) will have her second start in the rich VOBIS Showdown worth $1 million over the 1200m at Caulfield on Saturday (Race 6, 3.20pm). She has drawn gate twelve and Mitch Aitken will ride.
It was hard not to be impressed with what HOLLERLUJAH did on debut over an unsuitable 1000m trip at Bendigo. She was really hard to assess off soft jump-outs leading in but she reeled off the 5th best last 600m split of the entire meeting to win there, albeit in what was a blanket go. Everything she does suggests the 1200m is going to be far more favourable and the wide draw is ideal with just one bend to navigate, as it ensures she will get an uninterrupted run in the race. If that Bendigo form stands up here then she’s going to be in the finish. (Form Analyst Matt Welsh)
Today’s the big day, The stable’s newest superstar HOLLERLUJAH races in the $1 Million SHOWDOWN this afternoon, and she couldn’t look any better coming into it. Coming into this off the back of her Debut come from behind victory at Bendigo last start, The filly has ticked all the boxes at home in her recovery and work leading into today’s contest. This is a very strong race form-wise, with runners from the Bendigo contest coming into this race and runners from a strong Moonee Valley race last start who look the main dangers. She is still very green, so the improvement off the previous start will hold her in good stead here, The daughter of Holler can slot in behind the speed a couple of pairs back and then unleash down the outside with that lighting turn of foot.
