Henry Dwyer Racing – Saturday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has one runner today in BUDD FOX at Bendigo.

Bendigo – Good (4)

Bendigo is one of the better country tracks in Victoria with all horses more often than not getting their chance. At the latest update, Bendigo was rated a Good 4 and with largely fine weather forecast for Friday and Saturday, it will be somewhere between a 3 and a 4 come race six. (Form Analyst Matt Welsh)

Race 6 (4:41pm)   Bendigo Ford Marong Cup 2200m

BUDD FOX (6) heads to Bendigo on Saturday where he’ll contest a 2200m BM78 (Race 6, 4.41pm). The son of Foxwedge has drawn gate six and Michael Poy will take the ride.

BUDD FOX is back at the sports after stretching out to the Jericho Cup at the back end of last campaign. He ran a cracker in that gruelling 4600m contest and I imagine he may well be back at the ‘Bool in May, this time over the fences. This race looks a lovely pipe-opener to Budd Fox’s preparation on a track he has enjoyed good success at in the past. As you’d expect, he looked very one-paced in his trial at Cranbourne and I suspect he probably needs a little further than 2200m these days to be winning, but he will be strong late and whatever he does here he will improve upon as the distances get longer. (Form Analyst Matt Welsh)

Budd Fox will resume here after a long break since his gallant effort in the Jericho cup last start. He has come back to the stable in amazing condition and is doing well at home early in the preparation. The six year old gelding will settle in behind the speed and start winding up from a long way out, he should be hitting the line strong with progression for this preparation being the main goal of this run.
