Henry Dwyer Racing – Saturday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has four runners today in MOSCOW RED and HONORABLE MENTION running at Morphettville and DANSE DE LA LUNE and THE SISCOS KID running at Echuca.

Morphettville – Good (4)

Race 4 (2.30pm) Bradley Trade Services Handicap

No.1 MOSCOW RED – Sophie Logan a(2) (Barrier 1)

MOSCOW RED heads to Morphettville today where she will tackle a 1600m BM68. She has drawn gate one and Sophie Logan will ride claming two.

MOSCOW RED has travelled well and is in good order ahead of her assignment today. Today’s race is a little bit stronger than what she met last time, but she did win easily and she has got scope for improvement with her fitness and stepping up to the mile. She will get a really nice ride from barrier one with a nice claim to get us down to 60kg, we will sit just off the leader and pounce down the straight. She’s a super honest mare who will be fighting out the finish, hopefully able to secure another city win here.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $8.00 (as at 8am)

Race 9 (5.40pm) Happy 40th Birthday Mark Bolto Handicap

No.1 HONORABLE MENTION – Mitch Aitken (Barrier 6)

HONORABLE MENTION also heads to Morphettville today where he will contest a 1200m BM60. He has drawn gate six and Mitch Aitken will ride.

First-up today, HONORABLE MENTION trialled really well recently and this race looks like a great kick-off for him. His ideal distance is 1300-1400 so it’s a nice starting point and off his trial he is certainly over the odds today. He is fit enough to be competitive today and is one you can certainly put in your multiples. He looks set for a good campaign after some issues last time out.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $23 (as at 8am)

Echuca – Good (4)

The track has come up a Good 4 and with drying weather forecast expect and upgrade at some point. The Echuca surface has had plenty of racing on rain-affected tracks over winter so it will be a touch worn I’d imagine, but with a firm deck today expect those nearer the speed to have a slight edge.

Race 2 (12.46pm) Murphy’s Turf and Landscaping Maiden

No.4 DANSE DE LA LUNE – Michael Poy (Barrier 10)

DANSE DE LA LUNE heads to Echuca where she will try and break her maiden in a 1000m Maiden. She has drawn gate ten and Michal Poy rides.

DANSE DE LA LUNE has drawn a touch awkward here and may need to drift back from the wide barrier but despite that she has to be a key winning hope. She jumped-out well leading into this campaign before striking a heavy track at Moe where she got a fair way back first up off what was a hot tempo in a strong rating race. She sat up handy to a moderate tempo in Adelaide last time out and was just ‘fair’ late, again on a wet track. Getting back onto a dry deck today could prove a real bonus, the tongue tie going back seems a plus and with even luck in running she’s a key contender.

This is a fairly weak maiden so it gives her a great opportunity to run up to her best here and break her maiden. Barrier is only concern so need some luck in running.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $6.50 (as at 8am)

Race 8 (4.31pm) Bet 365 BM64 Handicap

No.10 THE SISCOS KID – Michael Poy (Barrier 8)

THE SISCOS KID also heads to Echuca today where he will contest a 1400m BM64. He has drawn gate eight and Michael Poy will ride.

THE SISCOS KID is a somewhat versatile galloper and from a middle draw with a good straight run into the bend he will be able to press forward for Poy. He covered a good deal of ground in the run at Morphettville and continued to fight to the line up in trip. The drop back to 1400m here is ideal and getting onto firmer footing certainly seems a plus. With even luck in running he is in this up to his ears.

This is a grade of race he can be really competitive in today, especially with some key scratchings from the field. A good chance for another win today.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $5.50 (as at 8am)
