Henry Dwyer Racing – Saturday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has one runner today in ASFOORA at Caufield.

Caufield – Good (4)

The track has come up a Good 4 but with fine, warm weather forecast that will quickly be upgraded to a Good 3. The forecast south-easterly winds are ideal for those up on speed, especially from this sprint chute as they have the wind assisting them both down the side of the track and into the home straight. The rail is back to the true position meaning the inside lanes are fresh ground – I think those on speed will have some edge. (Form Analyst Matt Welsh)

Race 5 (3:05pm)   SENET Kevin Hayes Stakes 1200m Group 3

No.9 ASFOORA– Mitch Aitken (Barrier 11)

ASFOORA (11) heads to Caulfield on Saturday where she’ll contest the 1200m Kevin Hayes Stakes for 3YO Fillies over 1200m, at Group 3 level (Race 5, 3.05pm). The unbeaten filly has drawn gate eleven and Mitch Aitken will ride.

ASFROORA kept her unbeaten record intact at this track over 1100m with a really solid win on Boxing Day. She is a really promising filly who continues to put herself handy to the speed, which makes the job so much easier. This is clearly a significant step up in grade coming out of a BM70 to tackle some fillies with serious Group form but Asfoora’s peak rating from last start has her more than measuring up here. Form the wide draw, I wouldn’t be too concerned about sitting deep as there’s just one bend to navigate and the wind at their back; just last week we saw Melba Storm sit three deep at this track over 1100m with the wind at her back and she not only won, but posted very fast time. The three-year-old daughter of Flying Artie will take on some better quality group class runners today in the Kevin Hayes Stakes. With fitness on her side coming here off the back of three runs prior, ASFOORA should be able to get a cart across from the wide gate to sit three-wide or just in behind the leaders, as referenced earlier by Matt Welsh there is no disadvantage being three-wide on speed out of the 1200m chute at Caufield. Her gallops at home have been really good leading in to this contest and her race day form speaks for itself, the team is confident she is a good each-way chance and look forward to seeing what she can deliver. (Stable)

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $8 (as at 12pm)
