The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has four runners today with KAWUNEECHE, NORTHERN WOODS and SOLAR COASTER running at Moe and TURNCOAT taking place her place in the Neds Money Back Odds Handicap at Caulfield.
Caulfield – Soft (6)
Race 8 (4.10pm) Neds Money Back Odds Handicap
No.16 TURNCOAT – Jamie Mott (Barrier 2)
TURNCOAT will contest a 1100m 3YO Fillies race and has drawn gate two with Jamie Mott to ride.
TURNCOAT hasn’t had much luck in her four career starts to date and we have set her a task today in what will be her last run this campaign. She is still a maiden and could have tackled easier races, however we have decided to have a throw at the stumps today and had she won one of those maidens she would have be running in this race anyway.
We haven’t done a lot with her between runs, she is right at her peak now and the maidens she has been running in have been good form races. She should get through the ground ok, it’s just whether she is up to this grade and her odds reflect that uncertainty.
TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $81 (as at 8am)

Moe – Heavy (9)
Race 3 (12.41pm) Michael Buhagiar Memorial 3yo Maiden
No.6 NORTHERN WOODS – Beau Mertens (Barrier 8)
NORTHERN WOODS will contest a 1628m Maiden and has drawn gate eight with Beau Mertens to ride.
The wet track will suit NORTHERN WOODS and he was good at Werribee last start in a weak maiden and he never got a crack at them until it was too late. The favourite TAKATOKA looks hardest to beat and has drawn just inside us and we will try and follow it throughout the race.
By race three they will be chopping up the track and no doubt looking to make their runs wide. He is fitter than the stablemate in this race and should be in the money somewhere. Whatever he does today will be his best.
TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $17 (as at 8am)
No.5 KAWUNEECHE – Damien Thornton (Barrier 3)
KAWUNEECHE will also contest the 1628m Maiden as his stablemate NORTHERN WOODS and has drawn gate three with Damien Thornton to ride.
KAWUNEECHE is first up and will need the run at a mile today, he will be ridden quietly to finish off at the latter stages of the race. He has some residual fitness and should run well, with an eye to 2000m next start suiting him much better. He will also handle the wet track at Moe today.
He’s a chance to run home in the top four, but will be better for today’s run all the same.
TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $34 (as at 8am)

Race 5 (1.51pm) Moe Optical 0-58 Handicap
No.5 SOLAR COASTER – Lucinda Doodt (Barrier 10)
SOLAR COASTER will tackle a 2447m 0-58 Handicap, has drawn gate ten and Lucinda Doodt will ride.
SOLAR COASTER returns after a break that included some poor health after stepping on a stingray while walking in the shallow waters of the beach. It really knocked him about for about a month before he bounced back to his old self and he is raring to go.
Today’s run is just to have a good blow before tackling the jumps again in the coming weeks.
TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $41 (as at 8am)
