The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has one runner today with IRISH BUTTERFLY at Sandown.
It’s a rare Saturday meeting at Sandown and racing will be on the outer Hillside track. It’s one of the fairest tracks in the country with lovely, long runs into the bend and a 490m straight that generally gives all horses their chance. The track will be in the Good 3 range for racing with fine weather forecast and light southerly winds shouldn’t impact racing.

No.4 IRISH BUTTERFLY – Damien Thornton (Barrier 4)
IRISH BUTTERFLY heads to Sandown today where he will contest a 1300m BM64. He has drawn gate four and Damien Thornton will ride.
IRISH BUTTERFLY was stiff not to win first up at Warrnambool. He had no luck at a crucial stage while the winner, Lowanna Magic, was building momentum. He went into that run off a decent break and should strip significantly fitter for the outing. The step to 1300m looks ideal and the wide-open expanses of Sandown are perfect for his racing pattern. Now gelded, hopefully we will see IRISH BUTTEFRLY deliver on the potential he has always shown.
He should be winning today or be going very close given some significant scratchings from the field. It’s been a while since has been in the winner’s circle, hopefully today he can get back there today.
