Henry Dwyer Racing – Saturday Preview

Sandown

Race 4 – Electric Impulse

Jockey – Ben Allen

1800m – Barrier 1

Last start winner Electric Impulse steps out to 1800-metres for the first time at Sandown this afternoon. The five-year-old daughter of Cable Bay finished too strongly at Sale last time out, given a good ride and getting her just rewards having raced well all preparation. Jockey Ben Allen sticks on and can settle closer to the speed from gate one, looking to settle on or just behind the speed from the outset.

Speed is just okay with Kingswood the most likely leader drawn towards the outside, while A Samurai Mind and Staunch can use good draws to settle somewhere near the speed approaching the first bend. Alma Rise is the interesting runner here. She just missed on debut in March before belting her rivals at 2000-metres next time out. Was runner-up in the St Leger before finding the paddock, and resumes today on the back of two sound jumpouts. She’ll be better over more ground but shapes as hardest to beat in this. The Englishman blew the start horribly here ten days ago, rallying to finish hard and only half-a-length out of the placings. Rises in grade today but if he steps cleanly, no surprise to see him around the mark. Dublin Journal won that race by almost two lengths. Both with each way claims. Kingswood should get every chance from the front, next best.

Electric Impulse has bounced through her win last start and comes here in terrific order this afternoon. She can find a forward position with a clean getaway and, assuming she handles dry ground again, can make it two wins in a row here. Strong claims.

Currently, Electric Impulse is a $5 chance in the market.
