Henry Dwyer Racing – Saturday Preview

Morphettville

Race 7 – The Autumn Belle

Jockey – Madison Lloyd

1800m Auraria Stakes – Barrier 10

Talented filly The Autumn Belle gets blinkers for the first tome when she steps out to 1800-metres at Morphettville today. The daughter of The Autumn Sun chased gamely when runner-up behind key rival Quickster at a mile last time out, and will enjoy the extra furlong on offer this afternoon. Jockey Madison Lloyd rides from barrier ten and has a nice run into the first bend to find cover somewhere midfield.

A few will look to roll forward from the outset here, with all of Diamonds Choice, Wings Of Song, Seeking Stardom, Harvest Moon and Quickster to challenge early, while Justaboom and Mollynickers won’t be far away heading down the side. This should setup a genuine tempo and this being the case, Vivy Air maps for the softest of runs in the second half of the field. She was stiff not to win at Flemington fresh before a sound closing effort at The Valley in an on-pace dominant race three weeks ago. If the speed is on, she’ll be closing hard late. Quickster had the better of a few of her rivals here last start, proving too slick over 1600-metres. No reason she doesn’t get another furlong and be right there again. Wings Of Song brings plenty of winning form with her from The Apple Isle, while no surprise to see Justaboom bounce back from the inside alley today. Both with each way claims. Mollynickers next best, but needs a win to justify the hype.

The Autumn Belle has shown the versatility to race off the speed and close strongly, and from the gate she may be forced into that scenario here. She’ll appreciate a solid tempo throughout and present with her run at the top of the straight, connections hoping she sees the trip ahead of a possible tilt at the Oaks in a fortnight’s time. Has the ability to be right in the thick of things.

Currently, The Autumn Belle is an $11 chance in the market.

Morphettville

Race 9 – Prairie Flower

Jockey – Maggie Collett

1200m – Barrier 4

Star Turn mare Prairie Flower comes right back in grade for the last event at Morphettville today. The ultra-consistent four-year-old closed well off a wide run in Stakes grade here last start, winning at this track and trip the start prior in strong fashion. Apprentice hoop Maggie Collett leaves from barrier four and can look to settle with runners behind her, needing room at the right time to sprint in the home straight.

Speed looks genuine here with Guerrara, Pompeii Empire, Costless and The Great Baby to all go fast from the outset, and expect Sixteen Reasons and Declared to be right there turning for home. Sixteen Reasons has been rock solid in two runs this time in, both in stronger company, and draws for all the favours here in gate four. She can box seat and prove very hard to run down late. Hardest to beat. The Great Baby gave some cheek when runner-up behind Prairie Flower first-up and has won a trial between runs. He’s fitter second-up and draws to find the lead from the inside. Could give a sight. Concede an each way chance to Guerrara, who has never been out of the placings in eight career starts. The win over Mansiere in February reads well for this. Gaze Grise and Declared next best.

Prairie Flower has won three times around the Morphettville circuit, twice at 1200-metres from five starts. She should get a nice run off the speed and present with her run in the home straight. The apprentice claim gets her in well at the weights, must be considered a winning chance.

Currently, Prairie Flower is a $5.50 chance in the market.

Morphettville

Race 9 – Gaze Grise

Jockey – Kayla Crowther

1200m – Barrier 14

Six-year-old mare Gaze Grise comes back in grade for today’s race at Morphettville. The daughter of Puissancce De Lune has been game without breaking through this preparation, running fourth at Oakbank last start when coursing very wide around the home bend. The efforts prior were good, and jockey Kayla Crowther will likely be forced back from a wide barrier this afternoon before finishing down the middle of the track.

Speed looks genuine here with Guerrara, Pompeii Empire, Costless and The Great Baby to all go fast from the outset, and expect Sixteen Reasons and Declared to be right there turning for home. Stablemate Prairie Flower loves racing here, winning at this track and trip two starts back before a good effort in Stakes grade last time out. She’ll get back and be hard to hold out if the runs appear. Sixteen Reasons has been rock solid in two runs this time in, both in stronger company, and draws for all the favours here in gate four. She can box seat and prove very hard to run down late. Declared next best.

Gaze Grise will be hoping for a genuine tempo in this, needing to get going before the home bend to work into the race. Back to 1200-metres a slight query, but she’s racing well and no sujrprise to see her run well again. Rough each way claims.

Currently, Gaze Grise is a $23 chance in the market.

Bendigo

Race 1 – Nishino Crescent

Jockey – Jordan Childs

2400m – Barrier 1

Promising stayer Nishino Crescent steps out to 2400-metres for the first time in Australia, following a solid effort at Flemington a fortnight ago. The gelded son of Satono Aladdin is enjoying a solid preparation, finishing around the mark in all five starts and looking every bit ready for the rise in trip today. Jockey Jordan Childs rides from the inside alley and should receive a soft run throughout, needing luck at the right time to get out and rolling before the home bend.

Equine Philosopher will go forward from a middle gate and look to control the race from the front, with Prismatic and Samuel Langhorn to hold their spots from nearer the rail in the early parts. Claim The Crown will go back from a wide draw and be put to sleep before working into the race late. He’s racing well without winning this preparation but does look like he’s ready for the step up in distance here. Solid from the back in a good edition of the Stawell Cup last time out. Chance. Divus Romulus is up sharply in grade but does look progressive following two good wins this time in. Can’t jump in at the price in this field but no surprise to see him in the money today. Prismatic and Samuel Langhorn both draw for the right runs, while can’t discount Haaland and Roaring Engine as each way chances. Tough race.

Nishino Crescent gets out to a suitable trip at this stage of his campaign and gets first use of what should be a lovely surface at the beginning of the day. He’ll need room at the right time to build into the race from a tricky draw, but must be considered amongst the each way chances on all runs to date.

Currently, Nishino Crescent is an $8 chance in the market.

Bendigo

Race 3 – Electric Impulse

Jockey – Ryan Houston

1300m – Barrier 3

Resuming mare Electric Impulse kicks off her campaign over 1300-metres at Bendigo this afternoon. The four-year-old daughter of Cable Bay has jumped out twice in readiness for today, winning her latest hitout at Geelong in nice fashion and looks primed for a forward showing here. Jockey Ryan Houston claims 3kg down to 58kg and will find cover in the second half of the field from gate three, needing room to chase in the home straight.

Speed is okay with Girl and Brazen Lady to punch forward in the early parts, with Master Montaro and Think Winning all to roll along from the start. Mansiere will land midfield or worse when runners settle and work into the race from the home bend. He just missed at Sandown last time out and made late ground behind Estriella in the Inglis Sprint the start prior. That’s good form for this, one of the main chances. Presser resumes on the back of sound jumpout form, boasting a win and a second from two fresh runs to date. He’ll be better over further but can make his presence felt if the tempo is genuine. Each way chances to Girl and Angry Skies, while Rocket Tiger can improve dropping back in grade.

Electric Impulse was a first-up winner last preparation and won again off a freshen-up with a strong finish at Flemington. She’ll improve from the run today but on ability alone, she must be considered a leading chance in this.

Currently, Electric Impulse is a $5.50 chance in the market.
