Race 2 – Prove It All Night
Jockey – Mitch Aitken
1100m – Barrier 8
Four-year-old galloper Prove It All Night makes his racetrack debut on a heavy surface at Hamilton this afternoon. The gelded son of Brazen Beau has shown ability at the jumpouts, his latest a quiet hitout at Stawell when running through the line under his own steam in similar conditions three weeks ago. Jockey Mitch Aitken rides from towards the outside and can roll forward with a clean getaway and put himself in the picture from the outset.
A handful of first-starters creates a fuzzy speed map, but expect Lonhstretto to roll across from the extreme outside and find a forward position, while Silver Cliff can boot through and settle handy from a middle draw. This galloper was grabbed in the last stride when leading throughout at Warrnambool on Thursday, coming here second-up and on a very short turnaround. She was pestered in the lead by a 200/1 shot that day, and if left alone up front today, she can give them all something to chase down. Hardest to beat. Lonhstretto has placed three of four career starts but the outside draw is no spoil here. If she gets the breaks early to find a position, she can be thereabouts. Each way chance. So too Tell Us Toll, who was solid on debut in February before a beaten favourite at her only other run. First-up today and jumpouts have been sound. Tikken next best.
Prove It All Night has the ability to give this a shake on debut, and should get a nice cart across in the early stages of the race if he steps cleanly. He got through a heavy surface without issue at his latest trial, albeit under no pressure, and how he handles conditions today will be key to his chances. On ability alone, he can go close.
Currently, Prove It All Night is a $5 chance in the market.

Race 5 – Moscow Red
Jockey – Taylah Childs
1600m – Barrier 12
Evergreen galloper Moscow Red gets conditions to suit at Hamilton this afternoon. The eleven-year-old daughter of Road To Rock is racing in terrific fashion, winning at Seymour two starts back before a strong closing effort at the same track three weeks ago when caught too far back turning for home. Jockey Taylah Childs claims down to 58.5kg and will drift back from an outside gate, looking to get on the move approaching the home straight.
Speed looks genuine enough in the early parts, with Vegas On Fire and Following Sea likely to roll forward and look for the top from the mile chute, while Loose On Gin and Marion Street won’t be far away on settling. Vegas On Fire had been racing in good heart before a miss on the synthetic last time out, and a return to rain-affected ground suits today. She gets in with a very light weight and can run them along in front. Can be in this for a long way if any on-speed bias is detected. Loose On Gin is back in grade for this following sound efforts in stronger company. He’ll need luck early to find a position in the run, and if it comes he’ll be thereabouts in the finish. Each way chances to It’sbruce and Following Sea in a tricky race.
Moscow Red will be hoping the track stays in the heavy range throughout the day, her chances enhanced if runners can make ground from the back. She’s racing in good heart and is relatively well-weighted for this event today. If Childs can get out and chasing at the right time, she must be considered amongst the each way chances,
Currently, Moscow Red is an $18 chance in the market.
