Henry Dwyer Racing – Monday Preview

Seymour

Race 9 – Friday At Five

Jockey – John Allen

1600m – Barrier 8

Five-year-old mare Friday At Five looks to bounce back at Seymour today, following a rare plain run at Ballarat three weeks ago. The daughter of Zoustar had been racing well prior, her effort in this grade at Bendigo two starts back more than good enough to be competitive today. Jockey John Allen leaves from barrier eight and can lob midfield or better with cover in the long straight run to the bend.

Speed is good in the early parts, with Queen Of Tayrona and Play On Words to roll across from their outside gates, while Warchime and Bossa Nova Lad can use favourable draws to punch through and hold prominent positions throughout. Warchime gets blinkers third-up and is suited rising to a mile here. Heavy ground in his favour and drawn for the right run tucked in behind the speed. One of the main contenders. Bossa Nova Lad dropped back to 1700-metres at Sale last start and was a narrowly-beaten runner-up in similar conditions. Back again in trip but sure to be in this for a long way. Each way chances to Paris Affair, who is racing well without winning, and Play on Words, who looks well over the odds in this.

Friday At Five will benefit from a softer run with cover today, able to present in the home straight and run on late. Heavy ground is a tick, and this race does fall away quickly. Strong each way claims on best form.

Currently, Friday At Five is an $8 chance in the market.

Seymour

Race 10 – Moscow Red

Jockey – Alysha Warren

1600m – Barrier 11

Ten-year-old mare Moscow Red gets her favoured conditions over 1600-metres at Seymour this afternoon. The daughter of Road To Rock was good when beaten a narrow margin at this track and trip two starts back, before an okay effort at Geelong last time out. Apprentice hoop Alysha Warren claims 2kg and will drift back in the early parts, looking to find the best part of the track to run on in the home straight.

Speed is drawn the inside with Stay A While and Vegas On Fire to roll forward from the start, while Cryptic Clue, Sacred Kiwi and Dazzling Sky can land in the front half of the field on settling. Sacred Kiwi has been solid in two runs back from a spell and relishes heavy ground (7:4-0-0). Closing in on a year since his last win, but will get every chance from up near the front today. One of the main chances. Zaku comes back a peg in grade for this and draws for all the favours in the run. Query on the distance but must be considered in this company. Each way chances to Dazzling Sky, who was a strong maiden winner last start, and Vegas On Fire, who will dictate from the front.

Moscow Red will be hoping for a genuine tempo throughout to bring the backmarkers into play late in the piece. She’ll enjoy the conditions under hoof and get her chance to balance up and hit the line. Each way claims on her run here two back.

Currently, Moscow Red is an $18 chance in the market.
