Henry Dwyer Racing – Monday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has three runners today in IMPOSTER ELLE, PAPER DRAGON and TELEKINESIS running at Ballarat.

Ballarat – All Weather Track

Racing is on the Ballarat Synthetic track and it has raced very well throughout the winter season. Tempo and momentum are the key ingredients to winning.

Race 2 (1.30pm) Kaspersky At Ryland Thoroughbreds Maiden

No.12 IMPOSTER ELLE – Michael Poy (Barrier 3)

IMPOSTER ELLE heads to Ballarat today where she will contest a 1500m Maiden. She has drawn gate three and Michael Poy will take the ride.

IMPOSTER ELLE gets onto a guaranteed dry surface which may be a plus and the blinkers going on could well bring about some improvement for her first-up run. This isn’t an overly strong maiden and there’s no doubt she will be better for the debut run. From the good gate she should be able to secure a nice run in the race but there’s no doubt she needs to find several lengths to be competitive.

She will run better today and is going as well as she can, but it is D-Day to see where her future lies.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $41 (as at 8am)

Race 3 (2pm) Spirit of Valor at Ryland Thoroughbreds

No.12 PAPER DRAGON – Michael Poy (Barrier 5)

PAPER DRAGON also heads to Ballarat today where she resumes in 1000m Maiden. She has drawn gate five and Michael Poy will ride.

PAPER DRAGON has had two Geelong jump-outs leading into this and she seems to have come to hand reasonably well. She was just fair in two runs last campaign but should be better for that first preparation and kicking off on her home track over 1000m looks a nice starting point. Her racing pattern is yet to be established having been on speed in one run and out the back in the other, but with a bit of speed in this race she will settle around midfield and look to close off late.

First-up today will be another good learning experience for PAPER DRAGON and while she will be competitive, she looks more like a good place chance here. More improvement will come from today.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $7 (as at 8am)

Race 7 (4pm) Nathan Hobson MRC Trainer Premiership

No.2 TELEKINESIS- Tianna Chapman a(4) (Barrier 2)

TELEKINESIS is our third runner at Ballarat today where he will contest an 1100m BM58. He has drawn gate two and Tianni Champan will ride and claim 4kg.

TELEKINESIS loves racing here at Ballarat, winning one and placing on two occasions from four goes on the synthetic. He had a few excuses last time out but his form prior was sound, running second two handy rating races at 1000m (where he came home the best last 600/400m splits of the meeting) and next start at 1200m. He has been back to the jump-outs between runs and gone very well at Geelong and with a strong tempo likely here expect him to close off hard late.

He’s had a couple of setbacks and spent some time at the beach, but he is forward enough to put on a good display here. CHAMPS D’OR does look hard to beat here, but if we jump well and get a nice sit outside the leader then he can definitely take this race out.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $6 (as at 8am)
