The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has five runners today in TOP CRITIC, PRESS START, DIAMONDSANDPEARLS, HELEVA DEEL and EXLOVER running at Mildura.
Mildura – Soft (5)
This meeting was transferred from Warrnambool to Casterton on Sunday and the track has come up a Soft 7. It is rarely a disadvantage to be too far away form the speed at Casterton but they did get away from the fence in the recent meeting here.
Race 1 (12.25pm) VisitMildura.com.au Maiden Plate
No.8 TOP CRITIC – Jake Duffy (Barrier 1)
TOP CRITIC heads to Mildura today where she will run in a 1000m Maiden. She has drawn gate one and Jake Duffy will ride.
TOP CRITIC looks really good in herself and she should run up to what she has been showing on the track recently. Her last two races she faced stiffer competition than she does today so that should be good enough to see her being very competitive. We take the blinkers off and she should get a really good run in transit from barrier one, keeping our position on the rail and maybe sitting just on the back of the leader. Current favourite THUNDER PARK is the clearly the one to beat and we need to turn the tables from when they last met where THUNDER PARK finished second and TOP CRITIC fourth. She will need to slightly improve to do that, which she can, with those two horses looking like they will be fighting out the finish.

Race 2 (1pm) Tatum Bull MRC Jockey Premiership Maiden
No.13 PRESS START – Jake Duffy (Barrier 11)
PRESS START also heads to Mildura today where she will run in a 1200m Maiden. She has drawn gate eleven and Jake Duffy will ride.
With the blinkers going back on today, PRESS START should run a better race than she did last start first-up on the synthetic track at Ballarat. She will be ridden more forward today so she can just find that one extra gear and grind it out rather than rely on her coming from well back. Favourite in IMPOSING BROOK will most likely be midfield and with plenty of pace in the race, we will look to cross from the wide barrier to try and slot in just behind the leaders, which will mean we will need some luck in doing so. Outside the favourite the race does thin out, so if she does have some luck in running she can definetly finish off strongly here.
She will be more suited on the grass today and a better showing is in order here. One for the multiples at good odds.

Race 3 (1.30pm) Nathan Hobson MRC Trainer Premiership
No.7 DIAMONDSANDPEARLS- Jake Duffy (Barrier 2)
DIAMONDSANDPEARLS is our third runner at Mildura today where she will make her debut for the stable in a 1400m Maiden. She has drawn gate two and Jake Duffy will ride.
DIAMONDSANDPEARLS has had the two trials on synthetic tracks, ridden quietly in both, trialling well enough to be competitive in a maiden like this. She will be better over more ground, but for today she will be ridden where she is comfortable in a midfield position, following the favourites into the race and hopefully finishing over the top of them. She isn’t totally screwed down to win, but it’s a grade of race she can be competitive in and she should be filling the placings somewhere.

Race 5 (2.30pm) Mildura & District Real Estate BM58
No.5 HELEVA DEEL – Campbell Rawiller (Barrier 3)
HELEVA DEEL is our fourth runner at Mildura today where she will run in a 2000m BM58. She has drawn gate three and Campbell Rawiller will ride.
Her preparation to date has been really good and while she is well down in grade today it means she will also need to carry weight. This is a very winnable race today, she will box seat here from the barrier sitting just off the speed, the surface today will suit and she will have every chance to add another win to her tally. She has been in work for some time so this will be her last race before a break over spring, before bringing her back over the December period. She’s in good order and as fit as she can be so a good showing is expected.

Race 6 (3pm) Mildura Motor Holdings BM58 Handicap
No.4 EXLOVER – Jake Duffy (Barrier 6)
EXLOVER is our fifth runner at Mildura today where he will run in a 1000m BM58. He has drawn gate six and Jake Duffy will ride.
EXLOVER carries 63.5 kilograms today but what looks like our main danger in EL FABIO is carrying 62 kilograms and we have a more senior jockey onboard. Weight here isn’t as telling over the shorter distance and EXLOVER should get a nice run midfield in a race that has a bit of speed and hopefully he can pick his way through the field to land his second win in a row. He hasn’t done much between runs and has been ticking over nicely, he can definetly take this race out and hopefully cap off a good day at Mildura for the stable.
