The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has two runners today in FRIDAY AT FIVE and SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH at Terang.
Terang – Good (4)
Terang is currently rated a Good 4 and with relatively fine, albeit cool, weather forecast on Monday it should remain in that range for much of the day. It’s a tricky track Terang; despite its lovely layout and long straight it can at times have a pattern, and the issue as a punter is it can be hard to predict! Keep an eye on the first few races, but if anything I’d expect those on speed to have a slight edge. (FORM ANALYST MATT WELSH)
Race 3 (2:30 pm) 1200m Stellan Capital Three-Years-Old Maiden Plate
No.7 FRIDAY AT FIVE – Liam Riordan (Barrier 7)
FRIDAY AT FIVE (7) will make her debut at Terang on Monday in a 1200m Maiden (Race 3, 2.30pm). She has drawn gate seven and Liam Riordan rides.
FRIDAY AT FIVE has had two very soft jump-outs this time in, the latest of which she closed off nicely in what was a fast heat for the morning. She looks to be going better this campaign than she was back in the winter when we saw her in a trial and a jump-out and gate seven is a nice alley on debut. It’s hard to be too confident about her winning chances given she was given such quiet jump-outs, but the Dwyer stable is in good form and this filly looks to have a degree of talent. Race 4 (3:00 pm) 1200m Provico Australia 4YO+ Maiden Plate
No.11 SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH – Will Gordon (Barrier 11)
SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH (10) heads to Terang on Monday where she’ll contest a 1200m Maiden (Race 4, 3.00pm). She has drawn gate ten and Will Gordon rides.
SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH had eight-weeks between her debut and second run so she should strip much fitter here for that Bendigo outing last start. The tempo at Bendigo was ‘fair’ at best and it meant the field was incredibly bunched coming into the straight, which didn’t help this filly who was badly held up. I suspect with clean air she would’ve gone close to winning and I loved her work past the post. From the gate, it’d be great to see this filly work forward and settle on speed, as she did on debut because there doesn’t look a huge amount of speed on paper and there’s plenty of moderate horses in this race which could prove roadblocks. This filly looks awfully hard to beat and she can continue a good run of form for the Dwyer stable. (FORM ANALYST MATT WELSH)
TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $4.40 (as at 11am)
