Moonee Valley
Race 2 – Wuddzz
Jockey – Jye McNeil
3000m – Barrier 2
Seven-year-old galloper Wuddzz gets blinkers back on when he heads to The Valley tonight. The gelded son of Complacent kept coming when finishing third at Mount Gambier last start at 3150-metres, in a typically honest effort on a heavy surface. Back on top of the ground is no spoil tonight, but jockey Jye McNeil can look to settle in the front half of the field from barrier two and be right there when the pressure goes on.
A few will kick-up and look to control proceedings from the front, with Noonday Gun and Goondiwindi to roll forward from low draws, while expect Brilliant Venture to come across from the outside to take up a prominent position in the run. Mr Lincoln has been solid at all three runs this preparation, just missing in the aforementioned Mount Gambier race last time out. He’ll get back in the field and wind up late in the piece. Each way chance. Muktamil and Privileged Son have both been models of consistency of late, and both have their first look at this trip tonight. No surprise to see them in the money somewhere. Brilliant Venture and Noonday Gun next best, who can be in this for a long way if left alone in front.
Wuddzz will be hoping the predicted rain arrives in time to put some juice in the track, his chances improving with every drop that falls. Regardless, he should be able to settle closer in the run tonight and leave less to do at the back end of the race. If he can get out and rolling at the right time, he can give this a shake.
Currently, Wuddzz is an $8 chance in the market.
