Geelong
Race 2 – Chilli Tycoon
Jockey – Mitch Aitken
1125m – Barrier 6
Three-year-old galloper Chilli Tycoon is second-up and fitter when she returns to Geelong this afternoon. The daughter of Written Tycoon was okay when fresh here a fortnight ago, getting back in a race dominated by the two on-speed runners. Jockey Mitch Aitken leaves from gate six and can come out neutral, settling where comfortable in the early parts.
Perennial runner-up The Carillo can punch forward and lead this from a middle draw, looking to go one better than four straight second-placings this preparation. He ran into a smart one last start and was far from disgraced, sticking on gamely and leaving a big gap to third. He’ll get every chance from the front and is hardest to beat today. If you ignore Paragraph’s debut flop her form looks good for a Friday maiden. She’s jumped out well and no surprise to see a forward showing first-up. Each way chances to Storm Capital on debut, and Jaskier on the back of a solid jumpout.
Chilli Tycoon will have taken benefit from her first-up run and she’ll be better again for the run today. She’ll likely find herself in the second half of the field turning for home and should appreciate the sting out of the track. Look for her to be picking up late.
Currently, Chilli Tycoon is a $31 chance in the market.
