Henry Dwyer Racing – Friday Preview

Cranbourne

Race 2 – Moaksun

Jockey – Mitch Aitken

1000m – Barrier 8

Resuming galloper Moaksun kicks off his campaign in the twilight at Cranbourne this evening. The gelded son of Akeed Mofeed was sound on debut at The Valley in February, recovering after a slow start and racing in restricted room when beaten 2.4-lengths. Jockey Mitch Aitken leaves from the outside barrier in a field of eight and can let his gelding roll early, looking to lob outside the lead heading into the home bend.

Speed is drawn to the immediate inside of Moaksun with Room For Bingo to go fast from the outset and search for the lead, while Megaflash at Petit Reve will be in the front half of the field turning for home. Elba led and won a recent Flemington jumpout and can boot-up and find the leaders’ back from the inside today. All career runs have been good to date, but 1000-metres too short? Can’t discount as a winning hope. Room For Bingo has been runner-up in both race starts, missing by half-a-length at this track and trip a fortnight ago. Fitter third-up and can be in this for a long way. Petit Reve next best, she was okay winning a recent jumpout when asked for an effort.

Moaksun cruised around at Avoca in an encouraging jumpout eleven days ago and looks ready to prove competitive first-up. He’ll appreciate travelling to the outside of runners here, able to sit outside or just behind the speed with a clean getaway. Has the ability to win this fresh.

Currently, Moaksun is a $4.80 chance in the market.
