Hamilton
Race 3 – Maid An Offer
Jockey – Jack Hill
1600m – Barrier 10
Three-year-old galloper Maid An Offer gets out to a mile for the first time when she travels to Hamilton this afternoon. The gelded son of Bon Hoffa ran through the line soundly at Warrnambool last time out at 1400-metres and looks ready for the step-up in trip today. Jockey Jack Hill has drawn out and will roll forward in the early parts, looking to settle in the first four in running.
Speed is drawn out with Van Scotia and Dollar Bucks to roll forward from the start, while Obsessive Maid and Goats On Oats should be able to boot through and hold prominent positions from low draws. Goats On Oats sets up for a lovely run here and he’s knocking on the door for a maiden win. He’s placed his last three and only needs to hold his form to be in the finish here. Hardest to beat. Norma’s Fleet was sound when finishing fourth first-up at this trip and strips fitter today. Second from that race has since won strongly at Stawell. Each way claims. So too Van Scotia who isn’t far away from a win. Gate no help.
Maid An Offer is expected improve with a positive ride today, and is fitter for three starts this preparation. If Hill can get across without using too much fuel in the early stages, he should receive a nice run in transit and be able to offer a kick late. An each way chance up in distance.
Currently, Maid An Offer is a $10 chance in the run.
