Henry Dwyer Racing – Friday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has three runners today at Geelong in UNDER THE TASSELS, TOP CRITIC and PEACE BROTHER.

The track is rated a Soft 7 after 53mm of rainfall over the past 7 days. The rail is out 5m having been true at the last meeting and with that setup, they will use plenty of width in the home straight. Geelong has raced very well for most of the winter and all horses should get their chance.

Geelong – Soft (7)

Race 1 (12.55pm) Bet365 Top Tote Plus Maiden Plate

No.12 UNDER THE TASSELS – Michael Poy (Barrier 7)

UNDER THE TASSELS heads to Geelong today to run in a 1221m Maiden. She has drawn gate seven and Michael Poy will ride.

UNDER THE TASSELS is a nice Epaulette filly who has taken a little while to make her debut. She has a big stride on her and she will eventually get out to a mile, but today’s nice big track is a good starting point for her. She will be ridden quietly today and will be running on late and should finish around midfield or slightly better, with an eye to be winning her maiden second or third up.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $19 (as at 8am)

Race 4 (2.30pm) All Time Plumbing 3yo Fillies Maiden

No.12 TOP CRITIC – Michael Poy (Barrier 12)

TOP CRITIC will make her debut at Geelong today in a 1112 metre Maiden. She has drawn gate twelve and Michael Poy will ride.

TOP CRITIC has had two jump-outs leading into this preparation. It was hard to see much at Burrumbeet owing to fog but she was just ‘fair’ over the concluding stages in her Caulfield hit-out. This is a pretty hot maiden to debut in, she has an awkward alley to overcome and she will improve on whatever she does today.

She should finish in the first half of the field and will be better for the run.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $81 (as at 8am)

Race 7 (2.30pm) Roderick Insurance Brokers BM64 Handicap

No.15 PEACE BROTHER – Ben Allen (Barrier 6)

PEACE BROTHER also heads to Geelong today where he will contest a 2433m BM64. He has drawn gate eight and a rider is yet to be booked.

PEACE BROTHER has been at his best when he has led and rolled them along at a genuine tempo. He has been mixing his flat racing with a bit of hurdling and he should be at absolutely peak fitness deep into the preparation. The other competition for the lead will come from JUSTAROUNDMIDNIGHT (1) and this pair should be able to control the tempo. PEACE BROTHER has ratings in his book that are good enough to be very competitive here and provided he isn’t pestered too much by JUSTAROUNDMIDNIGHT he can figure in the finish.

If he is left alone out front then he is a great winning chance.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $12 (as at 8am)
