Tatura
Race 8 – Alors Tu Crois
Jockey – Mitch Aitken
1980m – Barrier 9
So You Think mare Alors Tu Crois drops in class for today’s contest on heavy ground at Tatura. Henry Dwyer’s four-year-old has been racing in great heart this preparation, winning when fresh and finding a suitable race this afternoon. Jockey Mitch Aitken will be positive early on and look to find a position behind likely leaders Sandblast, Chestnut Thunder and Bangerang Redback when runners pass the winning post the first time around. The latter will appreciate the conditions today and comes back in grade for this. If he gets across from a wide alley and finds the lead he’ll give a sight from the front. Yulara is clearly the top-rated horse in the race and comes in well with a 4kg apprentice claim. H’es another who enjoys the heavy going and won’t be far away as usual. Mischinka has won twice at this track and will be the best of the closers.
Alors Tu Crois did all the work from the front at Mornington last start and was far from disgraced when finishing fourth. She has the opportunity to take a sit today and work into the race at the back end, Aitken able to use her fitness to see out the trip here. She’s a genuine winning hope if she holds her recent form.
Currently, Alors Tu Crois is a $3 chance in the market.
Geelong
Race 9 – Friday At Five
Jockey – John Allen
1750m – Barrier 11
Four-year-old mare Friday At Five strikes a competitive benchmark-64 event at Geelong this afternoon. The daughter of Zoustar has been racing well without luck since stringing wins together in the summer, and will need a change of fortune from the wide draw today. Jockey John Allen will go forward and look to tuck in behind the leaders in a race with solid early speed.
Greta Moon will punch forward from an inside draw and may have company in Jabbawockeez and Get In The Queue. Greta Moon is third-up here and gets out to a suitable distance for the first time this preparation. She was good from the front at this track last start and will give them something to chase at each way odds. Playing It Safe won well two start back before running into Globe in town last time out. Has had a let-up between runs but will be thereabouts today. Jabbawockeez went back from a wide gate and closed strongly to win first-up. He should settle closer today and again prove hard to beat. There are others with claims in an open race.
Friday At Five has the ability win a race like this if the breaks go her way early on. There is strong form out of her last start and if she runs up to that performance, will be right there in the finish. A good each way chance.
Currently, Friday At Five is a $16 chance in the market.
