A trio of runners heads north to represent the stable on a busy schedule of Friday racing.
Swan Hill
Race 1 – Mayoral Privileges
Jockey – Jack Hill
1200m – Barrier 9
A three-year-old debutant kicks the day off for the Dwyer camp, with Mayoral Privileges stepping out in the first race. The son of Love Conquers All has had three jumpouts leading into today, the latest he was pushed out to win at Horsham on soft ground. Jack Hill leaves from a wide gate but it’s a long run to the bend from the 1200-metre chute so he will have time to weigh up his options and likely find cover before they navigate the turn. This looks a fairly even race with no runners jumping off the page, making it a suitable assignment to begin his racing career.
Currently, Mayoral Privileges is a $6 chance in the market.
Race 2 – Brungle Raider
Jockey – Neil Farley
1600m – Barrier 2
Five-year-old gelding Brungle Raider resumes here from a spell, tackling the mile on fresh legs. The son of Rebel Raider looked good when given an easy time in a Ballarat jumpout on the synthetic and looks ready to run well first-up today. He had a forget-run on debut in his first preparation on heavy ground but came to hand quickly second-up, and the 1600-metres looks an ideal starting point for a bloke who will be aimed at greater distances as his campaign progresses. Neil Farley rides from an inside draw and can seek cover in the front half of the field, saving some juice for a last crack up the straight. This again looks an even contest but the Dwyer runner is deservedly well in the punters’ sights here.
Currently, Brungle Raider is a $3.40 favourite in the market.
Race 7 – Let It Rip Reggie
Jockey – Jack Hill
1600m – Barrier 9
Let It Rip Reggie rounds out the day for the stable, having his first start in four weeks at a mile in the last event. The five-year-old was disappointing with a last-placed effort at Manangatang at his previous outing and will look for sharp improvement on drying ground today. Both his wins have come on a good surface, so connections will be hoping a bit of sunshine and wind can help his cause throughout the day. This isn’t a strong race, and his best is good enough to be right in the finish, but the son of Ocean Park will need a form reversal today to produce what we know he is capable of.
Currently, Let It Rip Reggie is a $10 chance in the market.
