Copper Fox rises in grade at Swan Hill.
Race 7 – Copper Fox
Jockey – Michael Poy
Barrier – 3
Eight-year-old gelding, Copper Fox, steps up to benchmark-78 company today third-up from a spell. The son of Foxwedge put in a much-improved effort last start at Mildura following a disappointing first-up effort, and natural progression here could see him competitive in a strong 1200-metre event. Jockey Michael Poy will jump from gate three and can position handy in the run, but faces tough opposition with a few rivals coming off good metropolitan performances in Saturday grade. Sixbysixtythree appears the obvious danger in this for the Payne yard, despite lugging 60kg under Harry Coffey. Paul Preusker has both Screwed Down and Lowanna Magic (scr) going well and Riddlero for Dan McCarthy looks ready to perform fresh from a spell. The chances don’t end there in a deep race, meaning Copper Fox will need to be right on his game to figure in this one.
Currently, Copper Fox is a $15 chance in the market
