The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has three runners today with MACONNI, CRISTOFINA and WIN FALL racing at Geelong.
Geelong – Soft (6)
The track is rated a Soft 6 but there are showers forecast which could see a downgrade. Geelong has been racing very well since it returned from a renovation recently and you’d again expect the track to play fairly.
Race 1 (1pm) Apco Foundation 3YO Maiden Plate
No.8 MACONNI – Michael Poy (Barrier 1)
MACONNI heads to Geelong today where she will debut in a 1125m Maiden. She has drawn gate one and Michael Poy will ride.
MACONNI makes her debut in a most suitable 1125m maiden and from gate one with first use of the track she should get a very soft run in transit. She has prepped up for this with a soft jump-out at Avoca followed by a more testing official trial at Cranbourne. This filly will ultimately be better over further than 1125m, but this is a nice kick off to her career and it wouldn’t surprise to see her competitive.
She’s a bit of a work in progress and has her fair share of ability, but look for her more second-up.

Race 3 (2pm) Race Like A Boss Maiden Plate
No.7 CRISTOFINA – Michael Poy (Barrier 8)
CRISTOFINA also heads to Geelong today where she will tackle a 1525m Maiden. She has drawn gate eight and Michael Poy will ride.
CRISTOFINA simply got too far back at Horsham last start when spotting the leaders a huge start coming toward the home bend before ratting home into third. It was a super run at the 1400m and the extra 125m here should only help. There doesn’t look a huge amount of speed on paper here which could present Michael Poy and CRISTOFINA to be more forward in the run and if the breaks fall her way then she looks one of a few winning hopes.
CRISTOFINA has a great winning chance today.

Race 5 (3pm) Silvan Ridge Wealth F&M BM58 Handicap
No.9 WIN FALL – Michael Poy (Barrier 1)
WIN FALL is our third runner at Geelong today where she will contest a 1325m Fillies and Mares BM58. She has drawn gate one and Michael Poy will ride.
WIN FALL hasn’t won for a while now and she was ‘fair’ when chasing home into fourth at this track over 1212m fresh. She got back to last there fresh but had the back of TERRACOTTA – who she meets again – and wasn’t able to sprint with that filly. The upside is she will derive good fitness benefit from that first up outing. This is undoubtedly a step in both class as well as quality of opposition, but at her best this mare is certainly good enough to be competitive in a race like this.
She’s still improving and will be thereabouts today, she will be winning a race like this not before too long.
