The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has three runners today with TWELVE STARS, WIN FALL and BRUNGLE BERTIE racing at Geelong.
Geelong – Good (4)
The rail at Geelong will move from the true out to the 3m spot for today’s meeting. The latest meeting held at Geelong on April 20 was the first after a mini-renovation to the track and it seemed to race very well. With fine weather forecast today expect the track to remain in the Good range and light winds shouldn’t impact racing.
Race 2 (1.50pm) Viatek 3YO Fillies Maiden Plate
No.9 TWELVE STARS – Alana Kelly a(1.5) (Barrier 2)
TWELVE STARS makes her debut in a 1212m Maiden at Geelong today. She has drawn gate two and Alana Kelly will ride.
A daughter of Eurozone, TWELVE STARS trialled at Cranbourne on April 6 where she got back to last coming around the home bend and was hard ridden to try and make ground in the straight. Her recent jump-out at Avoca was a huge improvement on that official trial and that’s a positive sign as she’s heading in the right direction. She showed a degree of tactical speed in that recent jump-out so hopefully she can hold a spot somewhere near the speed from a good barrier and that should give her a chance to be competitive on debut. The 1212m distance looks a lovely kick-off point and she could be a filly that ultimately gets out over a little bit further.
This is a really nice introduction for her into racing, we aren’t really sure what to expect from her today but she does have some ability, she isn’t totally screwed down so we will no a lot more after today’s run. Hope to see her running on late.
TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $21 (as at 8am)

Race 5 (3.30pm) Pace Hospitality Insurance BM58 Handicap
No.7 WIN FALL – Ben Allen (Barrier 7)
WIN FALL also heads to Geelong today where she will contest a 1212m BM58. She has drawn gate seven and Ben Allen will ride.
WIN FALL resumes here and she does generally run well fresh. She went to the trials at Cranbourne on April 6 and missed the start hopelessly, which is a concern if she does the same today. This is as weak a race as Win Fall has contested in some time and she was a dominant maiden winner at Geelong this time last year. She looks really good in herself, her ability should take her along way and TERRACOTTA looks the main danger with the race dropping away after that.
Provided she jumps cleanly she should end up in a midfield trailing position and she will be fighting out the finish.
TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $4 (as at 8am)

Race 8 (5pm) The Elephant & Castle Hotel BM58
No.1 BRUNGLE BERTIE – Alana Kelly a(1.5) (Barrier 8)
BRUNGLE BERTIE is our third runner at Geelong where he will contest a 2418m BM58. He has drawn gate eight and Alana Kelly will ride.
BRUNGLE BERTIE has certainly found his calling as a stayer having kicked off his career over 1000m last time in. He worked to the line solidly at Avoca having his first run for the stable and quickly posted a tough maiden win over 2000m at Mildura last start when forced out deep early in the race, albeit in a fairly moderate affair. Up to the 2418m in a race lacking any serious tempo he can roll forward and take up a prominent spot and this looks a very soft stepping stone out of maiden grade.
The weight should conerhim him today, we will be positive from the barrier and he will stay all day and give them something to chase down. Whether he can hold them off late is the query.
TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $17 (as at 8am)
