Henry Dwyer Racing – Friday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has two runners today with GIMME THE GOSS at Geelong and BUDD FOX at The Valley.

Geelong – Good (4)

The rail is in the 11m position for much of the track with it in the 8m position from the 1700-800m marks. Geelong is generally a very fair track and the curator, James Dalton, does a tremendous job. There are a few showers moving through but at this stage we are on a Good 4.

No.6 GIMME THE GOSS – Zac Spain (Barrier 9)

GIMME THE GOSS heads to Geelong today where she will tackle an 1147m BM58. She has drawn gate nine and Zac Spain takes the ride.

GIMME THE GOSS may well be able to roll forward back down in grade, despite being first up. She resumes here off a decent spell having had just one jump-out at Geelong where she was given a very quiet time towards the tail of the field, making steady late ground under light riding. The jump-out was solid enough to suggest she has come back in good order and this is easily the softest race she has contested in some time.

With the right run in transit from what is an awkward draw, I’d expect GIMME THE GOSS to be most competitive and while she will strip fitter for the run, she can take this race out.

No.2 BUDD FOX – Lachlan Neindorf a(2) (Barrier 2)

BUDD FOX heads to The Valley tonight where he will contest a 3000m BM70. He has drawn gate two and Lachlan Neindorf will ride.

This race is right in BUDD FOX’S wheelhouse. This horse’s two best recent ratings come over 3000m at Sandown and 2400m at Bendigo and now with five runs under his belt he looks set to peak. BUDD FOX ran well two back at Caulfield when not beaten that far by Astraeus before stepping to the 2380m last time out and simply spotting them too great a start before hitting the line only OK the last two furlongs. The step to 3000m is ideal and from gate two he will get a soft run off what looks a very genuine tempo.

The field will string out and Neindorf should have no issues extricating away from the fence in plenty of time. Needs to wind up from the 1200 metre mark as he grinds away rather than has any strong turn off foot and he is a definite chance if you can forgive last start’s run.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $9 (as at 8am)
