Colac
Race 6 – Friday At Five
Jockey – Alysha Warren
1600m – Barrier 4
In-form mare Friday At Five comes back to a mile today in a heat of the Country Mile Series at Colac. The daughter of Zoustar has been racing in terrific fashion this preparation, with two wins and four placings from her past six starts and comes back in grade for today’s contest. Apprentice hoop Alysha Warren claims down to 59kg and can roll forward in the early parts, able to land on or just behind the speed on settling.
A few will look to roll forward here, with Norwoods and Our Couver to be positive from middle gates, while expect Crepescule to offset a wide draw with a fast getaway. Our Couver won a similar race at Seymour last start, sitting outside a solid tempo and holding a margin to the line. The race leader faded late on that occasion, adding merit to the win. Hardest to beat. Dane On Tour settled last at The Valley a fortnight ago, held up for the majority of the straight before finding the line well. She’ll be midfield or worse here from barrier two, but with better luck she’ll be closing hard late, Next best. Each way chances to Electric Belle, who should get a lovely trail behind the speed, Crepescule, who is shooting at a hattrick of wins, and Crafty Boss, who is rarely far away.
Friday At Five draws best of the speed horses here and should land forward where comfortable in the run. The tight circuit doesn’t pose any concerns, and her last run back at a mile resulted in a strong win. Winning claims.
Currently, Friday At Five is a $6 chance in the market.
