Press Statement mare Imapagethree Girl ($5) continued her love affair with Swan Hill, notching her second win at the track from as many starts with a barrier-to-box performance on Saturday. Jockey Jarrod Fry again teamed up with the four-year-old mare, taking her to the front after a clean getaway and never headed, pulling away in the final furlong to record a comfortable one-and-three-quarter-length win over 1300-metres. Others with soft trails were there to run her down in the home straight, and despite
“needing the post” at the 100-metre mark, the talented galloper only widened the gap in the final stages to score impressively in BM64 company. Fry was confident he had the race in his keeping a long way from home. “She gave me a good feel as soon as we began.
“The whole way, she was there waiting for me. When I gave her a squeeze, I just felt confident and to be honest, she was never going to get beaten”.
Henry was pleased to get another win with his mare, noting dry ground and 1300-metres is the right template to follow. “I think the 1300-metre trip is perfect for her, I’m not sure she gets much further.
“Maybe 1400-metres is the upper limit”.
Saturday’s win made it three from seven starts for the improving galloper, who will be hoping the dry Victorian winter continues through to her next start.
