Progressive filly Electric Impulse registered her first win the the Henry Dwyer yard when she powered away from her rivals in benchmark-64 company at Bendigo on Sunday. In just her second start for the stable, the daughter of Cable Bay proved much better than Sunday class, having plenty left in the tank when she crossed the line almost three lengths in front of her nearest opposition. Jockey John Allen was beaten for speed early on and was forced to settle three pairs back on the rail before turning for home. The gun hoop had to wait for a gap to appear but when he showed her daylight, the filly burst through and put the race to bed in a matter of strides. Allen was impressed with the performance post-race. “She was always travelling well”, he said. “Once that gap presented on the inside she picked up well. She doesn’t sprint straight away, it takes her a little bit to build her stride but when she got into top gear she really finished the race off well”.
Trainer Dwyer is confident there’s more in store for his talented galloper. “She was pretty impressive”, he said after the race. “She’s got a good will to win and a good turn of foot. She’s clean-winded, so she’s got a lot of upside and things going for her”.
Dwyer indicated he’ll step his filly up to a mile at Sandown next start and look to progress her to Saturday grade by the end of her three-year old season.
Electric Impulse now has two wins from four career starts.
