Dwyer leaving nothing to chance with Tan Tat Beauty

Caulfield trainer Henry Dwyer is leaving nothing to chance with Tan Tat Beauty ahead of her race at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

An impressive winner of her only start last season on the synthetic track at Pakenham when trained by Ciaron Maher, Tan Tat Beauty went to Moonee Valley on Tuesday to get a feel of the track ahead of the Super VOBIS 3YO Fillies Plate over 1200m..

Dwyer said it was not the work that was important, more the experience of the quirky course for the daughter of Stratum.

“We’ve only had her in our stable for a few weeks but she’s certainly a nice filly to have,” Dwyer said.

“She’s had a little freshen up since the win, had a couple of gallops at Caulfield and I just wanted her to have a look at the course here.

“She’s got a lovely temperament but it’s a trip away from home, let her see the mounting yard, walk through the tunnel – all those little things that make Moonee Valley a unique place.”

Craig Williams partnered Tan Tat Beauty over 800m with the winner Strangest Dream for company in 51.29 seconds with the last 400m in 25.07 seconds.

“I realise it’s a step up from maiden class to a Saturday city race but coming into the spring there are not a lot of options,” Dwyer said.

“The race here on Saturday will tell us where she is at. If she measures up then great, if she doesn’t it will not be the end of the world, we can give her some more time to furnish.

“I do think she’ll make a lovely autumn filly but she has shown me enough to think she warrants a crack at black type races so that’s where we would like to aim.”
