Aitken gives Friday a peach at Ararat

Zoustar mare Friday At Five brought up her second career win on Sunday in a 0-58 contest over a mile at Ararat. Jockey Mitch Aitken gave the four-year-old a gun steer, using a good draw to sit behind the leading pair and hooking out to chase as runners turned for home. The Dwyer runner was fit and full of running and swept past her rivals, Aitken easing down on the line to win by almost two lengths. The stable were confident leading into the race that she’d be hard to beat and their confidence was justified with a strong performance from the promising galloper. Dwyer was full of praise post-race. “She was really good – lovely ride by Mitch”, the trainer said. “She was strong right through the line”.

“She was due for that”.

Where to from here?

The stable noted her best form is on tracks with a little give and surfaces of that nature are difficult to find at the back end of summer. “I think the next step is another one at a mile or 1700m”, Dwyer said. “We’ll give her one more and win lose or draw we’ll give her a little let-up”.

Friday At Five will likely step out in a benchmark-64 contest in town before heading to the paddock to prepare for her winter campaign.
