The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has two runners tonight in BUDD FOX and MOSCOW RED running at The Valley.
The Valley – Soft (5)
The track is in perfect condition ahead of night racing returning to The Valley. The rain has well and truly set in but it hasn’t been as much as expected to it will get to a Soft 6 at worst come race 1. Every horse should get their chance when the rail is in the True.
Race 1 (6.15pm) Ladbroke It Jericho Cup Qualifier
No.4 BUDD FOX – Arron Lynch (Barrier 12)
BUDD FOX heads to The Valley tonight where he will contest a 3800m BM78. He has drawn gate twelve and Aaron Lynch will ride.
BUDD FOX is an out and out stayer who will both relish this trip and won’t be fazed by the soft ground, in fact he will relish it as long as it doesn’t get into the Heavy range. He will be ridden quietely from the wide draw and try and secure a nice spot handy to what looks an even tempo. He should still have significant fitness improvement to come off that last start effort at Gawler, essentially only being second-up there at 3340m. He was closing in on RAISE YOU TEN late there and with a weight swing in his favour he can at least turn the tables on that galloper. He has raced well at The Valley in the past and with a good run in transit he can certainly win.
TRUE MARVEL looks the horse to beat tonight and while he is not 100% just yet, he will certainly acquit himself well and if the track doesn’t get worse than soft, this looks an ideal race leading up to the Jericho Cup.
TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $7 (as at 8am)

Race 5 (8.15pm) Ranvet Handicap
No.4 MOSCOW RED – Will Price a (1.5) (Barrier 3)
MOSCOW RED also heads to The Valley tonight where she will contest a 2040m BM70. She has drawn gate three and Will Price will ride.
MOSCOW RED’S last run was a little one paced and does throw up a few queries as to whether she is ready for the paddock. She looks great and her soundness is good and a wet track really suits tonight with jockey Will Price having a good affinity with her, all of which points to some upside in tonight’s race. She is definitely up to this grade at her best but whether she is at her best at the moment time will tell. The field has come up a little bit stronger than we would have liked and we don’t head along tonight with huge expectations, but at the odds we hope she can show some of her usual tenacity on a favoured surface.
TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $21 (as at 8am)
