Henry Dwyer Racing – Wednesday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has two runners today in MAGIC CITY and PACKER’S BOND running at Kyneton.

Kyneton – Good (4)

The track is rated a Good 4. However the forecast calls for plenty of rain with up to 25mm in the forecast so that will no doubt have a bearing on what the track condition is come race time Kyneton is a momentum track where leaders have an advantage at times, but backmarkers can make ground if they are off and moving before the short home straight.

Race 2 (1pm) Cams Security Maiden Plate

No.3 MAGIC CITY – Michael Poy (Barrier 1)

MAGIC CITY heads to Kyneton today where he will contest an 1106m Maiden. He has drawn gate one and Michael Poy takes the ride.

MAGIC CITY is racing well enough to be competitive here. He was home the 7th best last 200m split of the meeting off a slow tempo at Bendigo when beaten by a smart one into fourth first up and the subsequent form out of that race has been solid enough. He ran quite well up to the 1200m at Ballarat last time out, working home strongly from the tail in a race dominated by the swoopers. Drawn a soft gate here hopefully he can position up handier to the speed and third up should be ready to show his best.

He just needs to jump with them to maintain a good spot in the race and he faces significantly easier competition today than he did last start. The rain will only help his chances here and he should run very well.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $3.90 (as at 8am)

Race 4 (2.10pm) Sole Refigeration & Air Conditioning

No.2 PACKER’S BOND – Patrick Moloney (Barrier 4)

PACKER’S BOND also heads to Kyneton today where he will contest an 1862m BM64. He has drawn gate four and Patrick Moloney will ride.

PACKER’S BOND has had a few runs for the stable now and he seems to be going nicely. The field fell away a bit with scratchings two back at Ballarat but he was still strong late and won with a little in hand. He went to a much stronger race at Warrnambool last time out and he raced in restricted room up the straight before working to the line OK. There has been winning form to come out of that contest, he will be better for the two runs around the distance range and he should get a soft trail.

The small field is good for him and he will likely just sit off the leader KWOI HOI and he is a good each way chance in this open affair. Any rain will help.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $8.50 (as at 8am)
