The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has one runner today in BUDD FOX running at Mornington.
Mornington – Good (4)
Mornington has come up a Good 4 and the rail is back to the true, having been out 8m when we raced here on September 9. That means that inside 7m or so will be fresh ground and you’d expect the track to race well. The key to Mornington is the short straight, horses need to build momentum down the side if they want to make ground from the back
Race 4 (2.35pm) Penang Turf Club Trophy
No.3 BUDD FOX – Damien Thornton (Barrier 7)
BUDD FOX heads to Mornington today where he will contest a 2000m BM70. He has drawn gate seven and Damien Thornton will ride.
BUDD FOX resumes here and he will have goals over further as the campaign unfolds. He has had an Ararat short-course jump-out and a recent 1550m Cranbourne trial to prepare for this and that should give him a solid grounding for the 2000m first up. He isn’t screwed down to fire first-up, but at this sort of trip he should be more competitive fresh than previous first-up attempts. That said, he will find a couple of his competitors to sharp and this will be a nice fitness building run to something further.
He’s set for the Jericho Cup over 4600 metres so today is a nice starting point for him.
