Henry Dwyer Racing – Sunday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has two runners today in THE DOMINATOR running in the Henry Dwyer Racing BM120 Steeplechase and RIDING HIGH running in the ECycle Grand National Steeplechase at Ballarat.

Ballarat – Soft (7)

Race 5 (3.45pm) Henry Dwyer Racing BM120 Steeplechase

No.1 THE DOMINATOR – Chris McCarthy a(3) (Barrier 6)

THE DOMINATOR heads to Ballarat today where he will run in the 3400m Henry Dwyer Racing BM120 Steeplechase. He has drawn gate six and Chris McCarthy takes the ride claming three.

THE DOMINATOR has sought the easier task to run in this race rather than the Grand Annual Steeple, but he gets the weight to carry with some relief with the claim. He ran in this race last year but pulled up with a tendon strain, but a year on he is really good order and he is fit enough to run even further than the 3400 metres he runs today. He will take on his usual role of rolling out the front and will look to have them all off the bit a long way out, building momentum with his weight impost and making them chase him down. MAWAANY MACHINE is clearly the best flat horse in the race and probably the best hurdler, but he needs to go over the bigger fences today and THE DOMINATOR has got plenty of runs on the board.

Hopefully we can finish this campaign on a high note today.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $3.90 (as at 8am)

Race 6 (4.25pm) ECycle Grand National Steeplechase

No.3 RIDING HIGH – Willie McCarthy (Barrier 6)

RIDING HIGH also heads to Ballarat today where he will run in the 4500m Grand National Steeplechase. He has drawn gate six and Willie McCarthy rides.

The rain overnight will see us on a Soft 7 today and RIDING HIGH heads into today’s grand final in really good order after a nice week at the beach, so he is mentally fresh but still physically fit today after a long season. SOCIAL ELEMENT is clearly the horse to beat and is the premier steeplechaser this season and in all likelihood would need to make mistake for us to be a chance to turn the tables today, despite a good pull in the weights of 5.5 kilograms. Weight is more important over this extended trip, so it gives us some chance and as we know in jumps racing, anything can happen, with the hope of course that all horses come through the run safely.

RIDING HIGH is in great order, he will get back after being ridden quietly so look for him to be running home strongly late.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $4.80 (as at 8am)
