Henry Dwyer Racing – Sunday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has three runners today in RIDING HIGH and COPPER FOX running at Sandown and DRESDEN GREEN running at Donald.

Sandown – Soft (7)

Race 1 (11.45am) Crisp Steeplechase

No.6 RIDING HIGH – Daryl Horner Jnr (Barrier 1)

RIDING HIGH heads to Sandown today where he will run in the 4200m Crisp Steeplechase. He has drawn gate one and Daryl Horner Jnr rides.

RIDING HIGH returns to the scene where he won the Australian Steeplechase in May and he has had one run since in the Mosstrooper Steeplechase where he ran really well and finished third. Today’s field is the ‘who’s who’ of steeplechasers with THE DOMINATOR probably the only one missing, with all six jumpers all in with a chance to win today given many have won a feature at one time or another over their careers. It’s going to be a great spectacle this race, win, lose or draw and RIDING HIGH is in terrific order and despite enjoying a long season he is really at his peak today. Daryl Horner Jnr will give RIDING HIGH a great steer and he is a faultless jumper so won’t have any issues there.

He has the best turn of foot in this race, hopefully the Soft 7 doesn’t dull that too much and if he is good enough he is good enough.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $12 (as at 8am)

Race 9 (4.55am) Ladbrokes Punter Assist Handicap

No.1 COPPER FOX – Campbell Rawiller a(3) (Barrier 7)

COPPPER FOX also heads to Sandown today where he will run in a 1300m BM64. He has drawn gate seven and Campbell Rawiller takes the ride claiming three.

COPPER FOX was super at Geelong winning last start with a rails hugging ride from Michael Poy to see him return to the winner’s circle. He can be a bit of a lacklustre customer when it comes to some of his runs, but when he gets a track to suit he can really let down. He will get back in the run today and if the track pattern is suiting horses coming from the back, then young Campbell Rawiller should find COPPER FOX enjoys the expansive space that Sandown affords and he will be running home strongly.

If the track pattern is playing in his favour, he’s a great each way chance at odds today.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $11 (as at 8am)

Donald – Heavy (9)

Donald is generally a very fair track but come race ten on a heavy deck you would suspect they will be coming wide in the straight.

Race 10 (5.05pm) Goldacres 0-58 Handicap

No.2 DRESDEN GREEN – Jake Duffy (Barrier 3)

DRESDEN GREEN heads to Donald today where he will contest a 1624m 0-58. He has drawn gate three and Jake Duffy will ride.

DRESDEN GREEN was very good at this track and trip last time out, chasing a hot speed and narrowly going down to Manhattan Arch. The winner of that race has since won again, and the third horse has tasted victory – so the form is looking OK. This galloper has really improved being ridden more positively at his last two and from the good draw today he will again ride the speed. He is five-weeks between runs but he has had a short-course tickover jump-out where he was off the bit throughout, as he only really does what he has to, especially with the blinkers off.

He has had a few minor feet issues between runs so he might be wanting this run and he will be looking to go up in distance next start. With the blinkers on he should apply himself well, but it’s whether he might find one or two fitter here today.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $4.80 (as at 8am)
