The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has one runner today in PRESS START running at Ballarat.
Ballarat – All Weather Track
Racing today is on the Ballarat Synthetic which is a track that has been racing well throughout the winter. As the season has gone on it has become easier to make ground. Tempo and momentum is everything in synthetic racing.
Race 1 (12.30pm) AJM Contracting Maiden Plate
No.6 PRESS START – John Allen (Barrier 1)
PRESS START heads to Ballarat today where she will contest a 1200m Maiden. She has drawn gate one and John Allen will ride.
PRESS START has been back to the jump-outs at St Arnaud between runs where she was ridden right out to win a 900m heat in 59.20 secs, which was quicker than the average time for the morning (59.76 secs). This is her first start for the stable having had seven previous runs, including one start in Victoria for Scott Cameron back on June 3 where she was under pressure a long way out and clearly not comfortable in the going. They posted the track at Wangaratta a Soft 6 that day but times would suggest it was much worse and this fillies best runs to date have been on firm decks. The tongue tie going on is a plus and she should be able to run an improved race.
This race is pretty strong for a maiden with TESTA ROCK clearly the horse to beat, John Allen will use the inside barrier to sit just off the leading pack and look to grind home from there with momentum. Off her jump-out she should be competitive, but might struggle to fill the placings here given who she is up against.
