The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has one runner today in HELEVA DEEL running at Pakenham.
Pakenham – All Weather Track
Racing is on the synthetic so while it will be wet and cold, that won’t impact racing! This track tends to race better after a bit of rainfall as it seems to reduce significant kickback. The track itself has been racing pretty well throughout the season to date, but those on speed generally have a slight edge. The winds aren’t significant and are from the south west so that won’t have a huge impact.
Race 1 (1pm) John Duff & Co Maiden Plate
No.8 HELEVA DEEL – Ben Allen (Barrier 8)
HELEVA DEEL heads to Pakenham today where she will contest a 1600m Maiden. She has drawn gate eight and Ben Allen will ride.
HELEVA DEEL has shown reasonable promise in her first campaign, running some handy races in stronger ratings maidens. She has had the two runs this campaign and both have had merit. She was beaten by a subsequent city winner – Foxy Frida – first up at Ballarat and while she was 4.8L from the winner it is proving a strong form reference. She had a lovely run when stepping to 1400m at Sandown last start and finished off her race strongly, suggesting 1600m would suit. The lack of speed could prove a little tricky but Ben Allen should have the confidence to be positive if he’s struggling to get in from gate eight.
This is a very winnable race for HELEVA DEEL if she runs up to her current form which she gives every indication she will.
