The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has one runner today with IRISH BUTTERFLY running at Sandown.
Sandown – Good (4)
Racing is on the outer of the two Sandown racetracks – the Hillside track – which features a lovely, long 490m run into the judge that generally gives all horses their chance. The rail is right out in the 12m spot which can often give those looking to run on their chance. The track is currently rated a Good 4 with a shower or two forecast.

No.5 IRISH BUTTERFLY – Damien Thornton (Barrier 4)
IRISH BUTTERFLY heads to Sandown today where he will contest a 1600m BM70. He has drawn gate four and Damien Thornton will ride.
IRISH BUTTERFLY has the blinkers going back on. He comes out of a reasonable rating race at Bendigo where he worked to the line strongly off a fast tempo to run fourth. He was slightly held up in the early part of the straight which did cost him some ground in the finish. This is his first time out to 1600m but the way he is racing it shouldn’t pose any concern and he is a 1500m winner at this track last preparation. He has had a nice little tickover jump-out at Avoca between runs. The little concern is the lack of speed in a race as IRISH BUTTERFLY doesn’t have much early toe, but that said he has shown an ability to sprint home and win off a slow tempo and we might look to have him further forward today than he normally is.
This is a pretty strong BM70 mid week race with the likes of OVER THE SKY and EXCELLERATION. Blinkers on will tell us a lot today and hopefully the track pattern is fair to all horses and he can be strong late. He is a top 3 chance in this race.
