The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has two runners today with PAPER DRAGON and THE SISCOS KID running at Ballarat.
Ballarat – Heavy (8)
Race 2 (1.05pm) Barlett Blinds 2YO Maiden Plate
No.10 PAPER DRAGON – Michael Poy (Barrier 1)
PAPER DRAGON makes her debut at Ballarat today in a 1100m 2YO Maiden. She has drawn gate one and Michael Poy will ride.
PAPER DRAGON makes her debut here on the back of a very soft trial at Cranbourne where she moved nicely. That was the only bit of work from her this time in, but two previous jump-outs at Ballarat and Burrumbeet last preparation gave every indication that this filly can gallop. Her two jump-outs last time in were good – especially the performance on the synthetic at Ballarat – and from gate one she should hold a spot near the speed and be competitive on debut.
She should handle the wet track today on her trial form, she will improve on what she does here but she does have ability to go close today and with luck in running will give this a good shake.
TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $7 (as at 8am)
Race 3 (1.40pm) Ballarat Antenna Solutions Maiden Plate
No.2 THE SISCOS KID – Lucinda Boyd (Barrier 10)
THE SISCOS KID also heads to Ballarat where he will tackle an 1100m Maiden. He has drawn gate ten and Lucinda Boyd will ride.
THE SISCOS KID covered plenty of ground at Geelong two back when a brave third over 1400m and then didn’t have much luck when held up at a crucial stage at his most recent run before a spell. His Cranbourne trial was just fair but he improved into a recent Burrumbeet jump-out where he wasn’t knocked around over the concluding stages. He resumes at a distance that will ultimately be short of his best, but it’s a nice kick off point to his campaign.
He will handle the heavy track which will put him in good stead today, but this race will be a bit short for him today so most likely next start is where he will be a betting proposition.
TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $19 (as at 8am)
