Henry Dwyer Racing – Friday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has three runners today with ELEGIST and HEAVENLY BRIDGES at Albury and MISTER MOGUL at The Valley.

Albury – Good (4)

Race 2 (1.50pm) Carlton Draught Showcase Class 2

No.7 ELEGIST – Patrick Moloney (Barrier 1)

ELEGIST heads to Albury today where he will tackle an 1000m Class 2. He has drawn gate one and Patrick Moloney will ride.

ELEGIST has travelled up really well to Albury where he will kick off his preparation. He’s had a tie-back operation since his last prep which will see him able to run out a strong 1000 metre race, with today’s race a really suitable proposition for him first-up. Barrier one is an interesting one for him, he will look to settle in the second half of the field, so he will need some luck in running, but it does look like most of his competition will settle forward which will give us the last crack at them. Patrick Moloney is a good jockey for this horse and he will need to patient and while ELEGIST has a really strong turn of foot, it is only short and sharp so Patrick will need to save it for the last 200 metres.

A genuine winning chance today in an open race.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $6 (as at 8am)

Race 6 (4.15pm) Naughtin Development Group Flat Knacker

No.8 HEAVENLY BRIDGES – Jake Bayliss (Barrier 10)

HEAVENLY BRIDGES also heads to Albury today where she will tackle the 900 metre open Flat Knacker. She has drawn gate ten and Jake Bayliss will ride.

HEAVENLY BRIDGES also travelled up really well yesterday and has arrived in good order for her assignment today. She is bright and well in herself, has good residual fitness from her run three weeks ago and a couple of strong gallops in between. This is a fast race today given only over the short 900 metre distance, we will look to leave it up to Jake as to where he positions her in the run given there will be no time to really settle from the outset. In an ideal world she will be just off the first few horses in the run, three or four wide and blending into the race at the 300 metre mark and be strong late.

With luck she is a great winning chance today in another open race that will see the speedsters light up the track, hopefully she is there when the whips are cracking.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $8.50 (as at 8am)

The Valley – Good (4)

The Valley has copped plenty of racing and this being the last meeting of the season will see it well and truly worn. On top of that, we raced on a bog track here last Saturday so it will be interesting to see how the inside holds up as the meeting goes on. They may get off the fence as the night goes on but, as always, momentum down the side of the track will be the key.

Race 5 (8.30pm) Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge Final

No.2 MISTER MOGUL – Will Price a(2) (Barrier 6)

MISTER MOGUL heads to The Valley tonight where he will contest the Final of the 55 Second Challenge over the flying 955m. He has drawn gate eight and Will Price will ride with his 2kg claim.

MISTER MOGUL goes around a big price and on recent form it’s not hard to see why having failed to beat a runner home in his two recent starts. That said, he does have ratings in his historical form that could see him competitive here and the blinkers go back on after they were removed last start. As has been the pattern with this horse throughout his career he has been given five weeks between runs to freshen up and hopefully that brings about an improvement in form. The wide barrier off a hot tempo could prove advantageous and he has got around the unique Valley circuit well enough in the past.

He’s well over the odds in this race and while this is a strong race, at his very best he will be competitive in this given how well he is going at the moment without the results. One to include in the multiples if nothing else at those odds.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $51 (as at 8am)
