The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has one runner today with ART DEALER at Ballarat.
The track is rated a Soft 5 after a couple of overnight showers but with fine weather forecast it should be a Good 4 early in the meeting. The rail is out 4m having been true at the most recent meeting and on a drying deck you’d expect those horses on speed to have a slight advantage.
Ballarat – Soft (5)
Race 2 (2pm) Cervus Equipment Maiden Plate
No.4 ART DEALER – Damien Thornton (Barrier 2)
ART DEALER heads to Ballarat today where he will contest a 1200m Maiden. He has drawn gate two and Damien Thornton will ride.
ART DEALER has had just the one start where he got a long way back over 1300m before working to the line solidly in what has proven a strong form reference. Just in front of him there was Ain’tnodeeldun who went on to win his next two and there has been plenty of other winners out of the race. He has had two jump-outs this preparation, the first of which he went nicely up on speed on the synthetic track here at Ballarat before having a very quiet jump-out at Geelong most recently. He’s drawn well enough to get a nice run in transit in the small field which will afford him every opportunity. He will settle where he is comfortable in the back half of the small field and will be running on late.
SOUTH PARADE is clearly the horse to beat but this is a lovely race for ART DEALER and he doesn’t need to have improved during his break to run into the money here. With an eye to next start when up in distance, he can still run a cheeky race today.
