The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has three runners today at Geelong in THE SISCOS KID and GALAXY GHOST.
The rail is back to the true position after being out a mix of 9m and 12m when we last raced here. With the rail movement, there’s plenty of fresh ground and you would expect the track to race absolutely perfectly. The track manager at Geelong, Jim Dalton, does and amazing job with the surface at Geelong.
Geelong – Good (4)
Race 4 (2.35pm) IGA Liquor Maiden Plate
No.17 THE SISCOS KID – John Allen (Barrier 7)
THE SISCOS KID heads today where he will resume in a 1400m Maiden. He has drawn gate seven and John Allen will ride.
THE SISCOS KID didn’t fire a shot in two runs back in the winter but he has a host of gear changes here with the blinkers and tongue tie being applied for the first-up run. He was ridden along to win a recent Ballarat jump-out with the shades on but he did beat a handy field. There’s no doubt he’s open to improvement and going to the 1400m seems a suitable kick-off point to his campaign, but he does need to improve significantly to win.
The horse is in good order but this is a tough race and just hoping he can show something near his best and finish in the first half of the field.
TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $34 (as at 8am)

Race 5 (3.10pm) IGA Liquor BM64 Handicap
No.4 GALAXY GHOST – Beau Mertens (Barrier 4)
GALAXY GHOST also heads to Geelong today where he will tackle a 1400m BM64. He has drawn gate four and Beau Mertens will ride.
GALAXY GHOST bounced back to the winners’ circle last start when dropping back to restricted 0-58 grade on his favoured heavy conditions at Wangaratta. He got a fair way back there but worked to the line strongly to score and he had been racing well enough in BM64 grade prior to suggest he can be most competitive here. The biggest issue this bloke faces is trying to settle better in his races as I think there’s enough ability there to be competitive in better races than this.
He is definitely better on wet ground but he should be competitive and be in the first five somewhere.
TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $23 (as at 8am)
