The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has three runners today at Ballarat on the synthetic in AMOROSITY, HELEVA DEEL and HONORABLE MENTION.
The biggest influencer on results at Ballarat is the wind and it’s expected to get up at Ballarat and having a little bit of cover will be of a premium. The track itself generally races pretty well.
Ballarat – All Weather Track
Race 2 (2pm) Pipepro Directional Drilling Maiden
No.1 AMOROSITY – Beau Mertens (Barrier 2)
AMOROSITY heads to Ballarat today where she will contest a 1200m Maiden. She has drawn gate two and Beau Mertens will ride.
AMOROSITY has the blinkers back on here after a little freshen up. She has had two jump-outs since Sale where she got well back before working to the line OK. She has jumped-out quite nicely between runs and she seemed to handle the synthetic track here at Ballarat quite well when running third in that recent hit-out. She’s a filly that hasn’t had enormous luck in her career to date and she was stiff not to win at Donald three-starts back, but her inability to get into a forward position from the barriers is her biggest hindrance.
If she jumps cleanly from barrier 2, she should acquit herself well and can win, if she doesn’t, it makes it hard.
TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $8.50 (as at 8am)

Race 3 (2.30pm) Polytrack F&M Maiden Plate
No.8 HELEVA DEEL – Beau Mertens (Barrier 6)
HELEVA DEEL also heads to Ballarat today where she will tackle a 1400m Maiden. She has drawn gate six and Beau Mertens will ride.
HELEVA DEEL had a couple of soft jump-outs leading into her debut at Geelong over 1250m. Her run there was better than it looked, being forced back into the inferior ground closer to the inside and the race rated very well. The step to 1400m here will benefit and she should get a reasonable run, midfield, one-off the fence.
She’s a winning hope here and can break her maiden today.
TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $10 (as at 8am)

Race 5 (3.30pm) Porter Plant Cup
No.5 HONORABLE MENTION – Ben Allen (Barrier 5)
HONORABLE MENTION is our third runner at Ballarat today where he will contest a 1500m BM78. He has drawn gate five and Ben Allen will ride.
HONORABLE MENTION is racing very well on the synthetic tracks, especially here at Ballarat. He was bailed away on the inside last start which didn’t help his chances as he’s a horse that needs to build momentum. He’s drawn to advantage out in five and should get a lovely run in transit and be able to build momentum when Ben Allen wants to. This is a stronger race than last start but he was most competitive in BM78 grade the start prior and he is one of the key winning chances.
This is a step up in grade but he gets weight relief and he should acquit himself really well again today.
TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $5.50 (as at 8am)
