Another day of winter racing at Ladbrokes Park and another stellar performance from the ultra-consistent Moscow Red, it’s becoming quite a pattern for the six-year-old who is relishing the conditions the winter months provide her.
Moscow Red is now a multiple winner at metro level after today taking out the Ladbrokes Cash In Handicap after a perfect ride from young rising star jockey Will Price, with her connections and trainer no doubt keen to see the pattern continue.
It was her seventh win of her career and the 20th top three finishing in 34 starts, now just $900 shy of earning $200,000 in prizemoney.
“I nearly scratched her this morning and as it got to 7.29am I thought I would leave her in and I’m glad I did,” said Henry.
“That was a really good win, the race panned out perfectly for her and Will rode her beautifully.”
“She was a bit hard on the bridle for the first 800 metres of the race, but they quickened pretty early which was good as that put some speed in the race and it allowed her to flow into it. As they came into the straight, everyone wanted to get out wide and a couple of horses stayed inside her and it just opened up a lovely gap for Will to angle her in to,” said Henry.
“I don’t think anything was catching her on the line, she was just holding them and doing what she had to and it was a terrific win.”
“She’s not overly blessed with ability but she’s very tough and you would love a stable full of them because she goes out there and tries her hardest everytime,” said Henry.
“It was a super win today,” said jockey Will Price.
“She jumped well, got a nice spot in running behind the leaders and they didn’t go very quick so I was happy to be where we were.”
“The run came at the top of the straight and knowing she likes to grind into her work, I was just happy to keep her flowing and keep her going into the dip, she hit the front a bit early down the straight and had a bit of a look around as she thought her job was done, but she was tough to the line and it was a good win,” said Price.
If she pulls up well Moscow Red will most likely head to The Valley on Saturday August 1 for another crack at a metro win, and if there is some rain about in the lead-up, the pattern well may continue.
