Henry Dwyer Racing – Thursday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has three runners today at Sale, with AMOROSITY, GALAXY GHOST and THINK I’M DREAMING.

Sale is rated a Soft 5 today and with fine weather forecast there’s some home it could be upgraded to a Good 4, although low overnight temperatures may have had some say in that. They haven’t raced at Sale for over a month and the rail goes from the 3m position out to the 6m mark. Sale can be a little hit and miss but generally speaking in winter they tend to ease away from the fence as the day goes on.

Sale – Soft (5)

Race 1 (12.30pm) Welcome Mackenna Mae 2yo Maiden Plate

No.7 AMOROSITY – Beau Mertens (Barrier 9)

AMOROSITY heads to Sale where she will contest an 1110m 2YO Maiden. She has drawn gate nine and Beau Mertens will ride.

AMOROSITY had been racing very well leading into her last start failure at Caulfield, albeit she did get knocked down on the home bend and was forced out into the inferior wider lanes that day.  She arguably should’ve broken her maiden the start prior at Donald and she has raced well, without winning, all campaign. She’s drawn nine and hopefully Beau can secure a nice run in transit.

This is a strong maiden so AMOROSITY might be more of a place proposition if she runs up to her best.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $11 (as at 8am)

Race 5 (2.30pm) Sanlam Private Wealth Bm64 Handicap

No.8 GALAXY GHOST – Michael Poy (Barrier 9)

GALAXY GHOST will tackle a 1210m BM64 and has drawn gate nine with Michael Poy to ride.

GALAXY GHOST has been back to the jump-outs at Burrumbeet between runs and it was notable that he wanted to get his head up over the concluding stages, albeit he did jump-out nicely. The crossover nose-band goes on here in an effort to try and get him to settle and the tongue tie will hopefully also help to get on top of the issue. He was disappointing last start at Ballarat after jumping out well leading in but maybe getting onto drier ground here may help his chances.

His best is good enough to win this but he is facing some stiff opposition today.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $13 (as at 8am)

Race 8 (4pm) Coffee Pit / No 1. Car Wash F&m Bm70

No.6 THINK I’M DREAMING – Damien Thornton (Barrier 8)

THINK I’M DREAMING will contest a 1423m BM70, she has drawn gate eight and Damien Thornton will take the ride.

THINK I’M DREAMING turned in a super run at Geelong last start. She chased gamely behind a smart one in Mr Cancun and that should have her cherry ripe for this third-up assignment. There doesn’t look much speed on paper here which could make the wider draw a touch awkward for THINK I’M DREAMING and that may present Damien Thornton with some headaches in the early stages of the race, but he is good enough to find a spot.

The even money favourite SOVEREIGN AWARD is the one to beat, but THINK I’M DREAMING is a clear second pick.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $8 (as at 8am)
